Description of training

Hello, and welcome to our platform

Here, we will only cover the theoretical part. This course is exclusively reserved for our students. Therefore, please get in touch with your training center.

The theoretical part, and particularly the “evidences,” carry a real percentage towards the attainment of your certification. So, please give it the necessary importance!

An important key to success is self-confidence.
An important key to self-confidence is preparation …

The ECPO training that you will follow is of a level comparable to the addition of the Btec level III (CPO) + Btec level IV (Hostile environment) of the British SIA (Security Industry Authority), but whose relay (following Brexit ) has been taken over by Ireland, and is of a European Level 5 level. This training was designed for high-risk close protection; whether it is a VIP or a high-threat area, for example in a security detachment in a hostile area. It is a very dense compilation of the fundamental aspects of “civilian” close protection, extended to aspects of risk areas by more military protection techniques.

Acronyms to remember:

CPO : Close Protection Officer (bodyguard)

PPO : Personal Protective Officer (UK) / AIC : Agent In Charge (USA – Secret Service)

CPD : Close Protection Driver

TL : Team Leader

The course consists of several themes; some are quite short in terms of theory, while others are more complex and lengthy but fundamental. The course does not cover any unnecessary material…

Some chapters are closely related, such as teamwork and operational plans, reconnaissance, or searches… but it was necessary to structure the course in terms of theory. Practical exercises encompass the entire curriculum. Close protection requires in-depth knowledge and methodology but should never be rigid; it must constantly adapt to the context and available skills.

Please note that we skip the first aid section since you will all undergo “Combat Medic” training during your in-person training.

Another aspect will only be discussed theoretically: offensive/defensive and evasive driving, which, to be effective, requires several days of training and vehicles that you may be required to drive in high-risk areas… which is impossible!

This training is divided into several modules, with or without quizzes, study tips, or advice.

Quizzes allow you to assess your progress, but assignments or Evidences (Mandatory) have a significant impact on the success of your training. These must be returned to us no later than the day of your exam.

We recommend that you READ and complete one module at a time, and even allocate two days or more to it if needed. This is to ensure optimal performance in the “ASSIGNMENTS or EVIDENCES” sections and to follow the order of the modules.

ATTENTION: Quizzes are not unlimited (3 attempts), there is no need to retry if you have passed, only the first positive score will be considered!!!

If you are having trouble, feel free to ask questions students@smat-training.com

Let’s go!…..
