CLS MIRA (MEDICINE IN REMOTE AREAS)

Cls MIRA training has been specially designed for operators working in remote and hostile environments, such as doctors, nurses, medics… as well as, for all people where the responsibility to provide immediate medical care and rescue procedures prolonged support for the injured, will be in charge of team members up to Medevac and / or the obtention of definitive care.

The objectives of this course are mainly aimed at experienced close protection officers and medical professionals who wish to work as a remote team doctor or simply be confident and prepared to deal with losses in hostile and tactical environments.

    Course content

    UNIT 1 : MEDICAL INTERVENTION
    • Care under fire: When military civil security action takes precedence over care of the wounded.
    • How to adapt your approach to caring for the injured according to the threat
    UNIT 2 : TRAUMA MANAGEMENT
    • Chest trauma: Identify and treat trauma immediately
    • potentially fatal chest pain. Recognize chest injuries that require urgent surgery. Understand that certain injuries must be managed by intubation, ventilation and intensive care. Evaluate, identify and treat potentially fatal chest injuries
    • Abdominal trauma: Understanding the priorities for assessment and management of patients with blunt or penetrating abdominal trauma. Recognize the indications for urgent surgery in unstable patients. Understand the role of imagery and investigations in the diagnosis and monitoring of victims of abdominal trauma.
    • Mechanisms and epidemiology of trauma: The main mechanisms and types of injuries in the military population. Reasons for adopting delays in trauma care and the controversy surrounding delays.
    • Head injuries: Identify and manage life threatening head injuries. Recognize head trauma that requires urgent surgery or intensive care. Understand the management of head injured patients at each level of care.
    UNIT 3 : RESUSCITATION IN THE FIELD
    • Understand the preparation of a role 1 installation to receive a seriously injured person
    • Understand the assessment and treatment process for seriously injured on role 1
    • Tactical field care: How to assess and treat a victim in a semi-permissive environment with limited resources
    • Appreciate the critical decision that needs to be made when managing role 1 casualties.
    UNIT 4 : BURNS
    • Understanding the epidemiology and pathophysiology of a burn
    • Understand how to assess the depth of a burn
    • Understand how to assess the size of a burn
    • Understand treatment priorities when dealing with a burn victim.
    • Understand the specific characteristics of thermal, electrical and chemical burns.
    UNIT 5 : TRIAGE
    • Understand the definition and purpose of triage
    • Know the different triage priorities
    • Understand the importance of triage labeling
    • Understand the systems used to perform the triage
    UNIT 6 : MEMBERS AND BASIN
    • The significant differences between limb and pelvis injuries in the military environment compared to the civilian environment.
    • How to assess and treat limb and pelvis injuries
